Running

~10 miles today. I’ve been running mostly flat and not often enough. Considering that the Big Sur marathon promises the “worst timing of your life but the best time of your life” and having seen Hurricane Hill for myself, I thought I’d better hit the hills. Hence, the Dish. Ran the loop twice before the sun set. No matter how well you think you are running, there is nothing like the Dish to set you straight. Humbling.

With an almost three year old in the house, we are constantly bargaining and negotiating with the little one. With a couple of minutes before we are out the door, the little one bargains, “Mama, five more minutes? Can I finish Thomas before we go? Can I pause it so I can play crayons? Oh Mama, I paused it, I want to play crayons!!!” When I try to sit down and explain why we need to go, his little face scrunches up and delivers the magic line, “Five more minutes Mama?”

How do you say no to a face like that?
